Development
The Wellington Maori Cultural Society is in partnership with Te Matatini to implement the following objectives:
KAPA HAKA DEVELOPMENT
Further promote and support the development of kapa haka activity and participation in the rohe. To achieve this the WMCS will deliver:
- Regional Competitions 2024
- Haka Extravaganza
- Iwi Hakaz
- Taikura Haka
- Kura Tuatahi and Kura Tuarua
ROHE DEVELOPMENT
Achieve high levels of engagement across all sectors. Increased participation in kapa haka at all levels. To achieve this the WMCS will deliver:
- An increase in rohe events showcasing haka in Te Whanganui-ā-Tara.
- Provide support (where needed) to schools engaging or wanting to engage in kapa haka.
- Enhance and strengthen relationships with neighbouring rohe.
- Strengthen professional workforce.
RANGATAHI DEVELOPMENT
Enhance youth Kapa haka capital. Support the development and growth of rangatahi participating in kapa haka. To achieve this the WMCS will deliver:
- Provide support to increase the inclusion of youth participating in roopu competing at the senior regional competitions.
- Showcase rangatahi participation in haka across the rohe.
- Rangatahi leadership and innovation programs
- Support Initiatives to encourage rangatahi participation.
BUSINESS GROWTH
Procure increased revenue/investment streams that support business growth. To achieve this the WMCS will deliver:
- Technology upgrades
- Increase workforce
- Provide a supportive and coaching culture throughout within the rohe
- Engage in developments to increase financial capability and capacity.
- Increase Governance capacity.
- Rebuild branding.
- Strengthen Marketing
- Strengthen and Increase rohe working relationships
